Panic Attack Symptoms

by L.D. Mairet

Panic Attack Symptoms

There are many symptoms that are commonly associated with panic attacks. Some of the most freqent symptoms include:

dizziness or a feeling of being faint
lightheadedness
increase in heart rate
numbness and tingling in face, extremities, and body
feeling as if you are short of breath
increased perspiration
shaking and trembling
sensations of choking
hot flashes and or chills
nausea or abdominal discomfort
fealing like you are in a "dreamy state"

Panic Attacks can have many different symptoms. You might experience several of the symptoms, all, or only a few during a panic attack. Some of your symptoms can be more severe than the others.

If you are experiencing any or all of these symptoms it would be best for you to consult with your physician. Some of these symptoms can be seen in other medical conditions. It is always best to consult with a physician to rule out any other medical conditions prior to assuming that you have a panic disorder. If your tests all come back normal you can assume that you are experiencing panic.

If you have been diagnosed with panic disorder and you are looking to help stop the panic attack symptoms, then you should definately read this book. This book will give you the knowledge you desire to help reduce and even stop the symptoms of your panic attack. I highly recommend this book as a great place to start. I have been a panic free survivor for over a year now and started with a book called Panic Away.

L.D Mairet has treated her panic disorder by natural methods only and has been panic and med free for almost 1 year now. Fitness For Older Women - 10 Years Younger With Strength Training

by Rebecca Prescott

Strength training has a lot of advantages for women, and particularly for women aged 35 to 40 and older. By the age of 40, women generally begin to lose bone density and muscle mass. One study at Tufts University, designed by the author of 'Strong Women Stay Young', Miriam Nelson PH.D, found that instead of losing bone density and muscle mass, the women were 15 to 20 years younger after one year of weight training. They gained bone density, and their strength tests matched women who were in their 30's and 40's.

These women didn't diet, but they did end up looking slimmer. Some lost 1 or 2 dress sizes, and they all replaced fat with muscle. Because muscle weighs more than fat, this is the reason they looked slimmer, though the scales may not have changed much.

The women in this study were all post menopausal, and some of their ages were in the 50's and 60's. They made some remarkable changes in their lives as they got stronger. One woman described going rollerblading with her children. Another went canoeing with her husband. More than any pills or potions, strength training gave these women back a youthfulness some didn't even have to that degree in the first place.

The women in this study used leg weights and free hand weights that were adjustible in their strength training program. They started at a level they were able to - even if this was the lightest weights available. They didn't buy lots of expensive equipment or home gyms, and many of these can be bought second hand with a little research locally. As they developed their strength, they invested in heavier weights.

For the strap on ankle weights, they started with 1 to 3 kilograms in each cuff. The suggested ankle cuffs hold up to 10 kilograms each. The dumbells they used for their arms were adjustable, and they started with 1 or 2 kilograms. The only other equipment they needed was a chair, somewhere to store the weights, and a towel. Because you're working out in your own home you don't need to buy expensive or flashy gym clothes, or worry about feeling the odd one out.

The workout itself is in the book, Stong Women Stay Young. It covers a range of basic exercises that don't take up too much time, which is suggested you do twice a week. Each session takes about 40 minutes including warming up and cooling down.

Tips for women working out with weights at home

* Make sure the area you're working in doesn't have rugs, electrical cords, toys and other items that you can trip over
* Keep your pets and young children away from this area whilst you're working out
* If you're using a chair when you do exercises, make sure it's on a carpet that won't slide around. If you don't have carpet, put the chair against the wall so it stays stable
* If you have problems with your back, you'll need to be careful when you're carrying your free weights around. Take a few trips to carry things if you have to move them in or out of a storage area. And make sure you lift them properly by bending your knees and moving slowly.
* It helps to keep the weights you're not currently using in their container. That way they can't be knocked off by curious children.
* If you're using leg weights, don't walk around with them on. It could affect your balance. And if you trip on something, you are more likely to injure yourself than normal
* Keep the telephone off the hook, and the cellphone off. That way if someone rings you won't be interrupted
* Make sure you have some drinking water nearby in case you get thirsty.
* Don't drink any alcohol, even a little bit, less than a couple of hours before you exercise
* Try and make sure you haven't just eaten a meal before you work out. But by the same token, make sure you're not starving! If you're really hungry, you could become light headed or dizzy when you work out.
* Don't forget to warm up!
* If you're using weights, try doing them in front of a mirror so you can check your posture. You'll get more out of the exercise, and work the right muscles. Sometimes our posture becomes so habitual we don't realize it's not quite right until we see it
* If you're using weights, a good posture means you're chin is down slightly, so that it's aligned with your neck. Your neck is in line with your spine, shoulders are straight and not stiff, back is straight, and your knees are not locked or bent. Your pelvis should be tucked under a little
* When using weights, do the lifts slowly. This really works the muscles instead of letting the motion do the work for you.
* Make sure you pause for a count between lifting the weight up, and lowering it
* Don't hold your breath whilst you're lifting wights. Given that we're contracting muscles, sometimes we unconsciously hold our breaths at the same time. Remember to breath, but don't go the other extreme and hyperventilate!

Yoga Exercises - What Has Cannabis Got In Common With Yoga

by Kacy Carr

What has yoga exercises and cannabis got in common - well that is simple they both relate to joints. Cannabis is smoked in a joint and yoga exercises help relax the joints. Let us focus on the how the natural way is the legal way to ease troubled minds and aches and pains.

The Natural way comes with no prison sentence.

Yoga exercises - moves and postures are easily practiced but most importantly should be supervised under the guidance from a master in the field of yoga. Tutorial videos are quite popular among the housebound. People with an illness that prevents them leaving the house can still follow the thousands of Yogis world wide by practising yoga exercises in the comfort of their own home.

One of the top reasons for why yoga exercises are performed on a wide scale is due to stress related concerns. Anxiety and sufferers of depression have seen the difference in themselves after learning yoga. Doctors are now referring their patients to join local yoga classes. Doctors realize that this is a safe natural mental medicinal medication which can ease symptoms of different types of illnesses and disorders. (Depending on the illness)

For beginners who are attending a class for the first time you can expect your yoga exercises to be light movements. This may entail short workouts on twists, balance, sit up poses and different other moves. You may also find that there is a time limit on how much you do in the first few stages of your yoga exercises due to you being a novice.

Once you have become familiar with what ever type of yoga you have chosen to practice - it is then you will begin to notice the change in your whole approach towards practice sessions. Yoga and the people who exercise this exercise become very devoted to an extent that it becomes a passionate piece of their life and why wouldn`t they when it helps them to keep in shape and lead a healthier life

Remember what is on the inside needs as much nurturing like that on the outside - in other words muscles joints and internal organs. There are many types of yoga exercises carefully structured to loosen the bones taking away stiffness or any other discomforts that can cause bouts of stress. By practicing yoga exercises on a regular basis you will notice the flexibility of how the body alters in a very relieving manner.

If you are not sure of the type of yoga that best suits your needs then talk with a yoga master. The Practice of yoga exercises due to health matters should not go ahead until you speak with your doctor - this goes for any exercises you intend on taking up.

Yoga is not a cure and has no magical powers where you regain sight after years of living in darkness nor can it cure the deaf from their world of silence but one thing it can do is work MIRACLES on the mind. This is done by positive thoughts inserted into the mind by your own way of thinking where you take what is rightfully yours and that is contentment.

100% fit in mind body and soul is what healthy living is all about. With yoga you claim what is rightfully yours control. www.want2yoga.com Take steps now to move on with your life www.allaboutonlineeducation.com

Get Exercise and Lose Weight Playing Video Games

by Jim O'Neill

I know what you're probably saying right now. "Yea, right" or "what is this guy, some kind of a joker". Well, ordinarily you would be right on the mark with those comments, but there is a video game out there that not only can be a ton of fun, but can also give you a pretty good workout and make you lose weight in the process.

If you are a teenager or the parent of a teenager with a "Sony play station 2", then you likely already know what game I'm talking about. If not, the video game in question is called "dance, dance revolution" or DDR for short. This is a game that started out in video arcades, but now there is the home version you can buy. Let's look at how this video game can become part of a weight loss and fitness program.

The game itself is played on a mat with four arrows pointing out in each direction, two out to the sides and one forward and one back. The corresponding arrows on your TV screen are your target arrows. When the moving arrows coming up from the bottom of your screen overlap the target arrows on the screen, you step on the appropriate arrows on the mat. All of this happens to your choice of upbeat music.

The nice part of DDR is that there are skill levels ranging from beginner all the way to advanced levels. As you complete one song or segment, you get a score for it. You can then try again and again to continue to beat your scores. The fact that it is competitive in nature makes it a lot of fun, plus as you are playing this game, you are moving your body the same as you would doing dance aerobics.

As with any aerobic exercise, it stands to reason that if you played DDR for 20 to 30 minutes per day, you would expend a lot of energy and burn fat. But as if logic alone wasn't enough to confirm that this video game could give you a good workout and make you burn fat, there are people who use DDR making claims of losing anywhere from 5 to 95 pounds of fat! These claims are all coming from people who aren't being paid to endorse DDR, but just people who are seeing these kinds of results from using it.

Since you probably already have a TV set, all you would need to get started doing this is a "play station" and the game with the mat (the mat is the controller). If you already have a "play station 2", you can get the game and mat for around $60.00. If you don't have the "play station 2", you can still get everything you need for under $300.00.

If you enjoy music and dancing, and you are getting bored with jogging or riding the exercise bike, then DDR is a great way to get in some exercise each day, plus you'll have a lot of fun doing it once you get the hang of it. If you are having fun while you are exercising, you will not only be more likely to stick with it, you will probably look forward to doing it, and if you don't believe DDR can give you a challenging workout, just ask any teenager how they feel after 20 to 30 minutes of doing it.

Relaxing With Zen Shiatsu

by Rebecca Prescott

The origins of zen shiatsu is in Oriental medicine, but it was adapted to the Japanese environment.

All types of shiatsu stimulate blood circulation directly, like western style massage such as Swedish. In doing so, both of these systems help release poorly flowing blood in the skin and muscles, and hence help ease tension and stiffness that arise from that congestion.

But there are important differences, both in the way shiatsu is practised, and its other effects. Unlike western style massages, shiatsu uses the meridian system, which can be pictured as like the arteries of our physically embodied energetic system. Consequently, the effects of shiatsu go much deeper, and can help the organs themselves, our autonomic nervous system, and our hormones, as well as our joints, tendons and muscles.

There are actually at least 6 different styles of shiatsu practised in the West today, though some practitioners combine the different approaches in one treatment session. Zen shiatsu was developed by Shizuto Masunaga, and came out of a time in Japan when the most popular style of shiatsu, taught by Namikoshi's schools, had a strong alignment with western medicine. Masunaga sought to bring back the traditional Oriental medical approach and philosophy, as well as maintaining the advances in physiology that had been developed in the West.

In developing zen shiatsu, Masunaga facilitated a more complete understanding of the meridian system. He taught how to use the meridians to balance a person's psychological and physical systems so that the body was in a greater position to heal itself.

Zen shiatsu is generally less painful than Namikoshi's style, in the hands of a skilled practitioner. The reason is that both hands are kept on the body, and the object is to find the most 'kyo' and most 'jitsu' meridians, and work on these together. Kyo refers to an 'empty' meridian - that is, one with the least amount of energy. And jitsu in this context means a meridian with an excessive amount of energy. So, by working on the two together, the body achieves a state of balance.

When a zen shiatsu practitioner is diagnosing for kyo and jitsu, the awareness is on the relationship of meridians to each other. They define each other. If a person's body was in a complete state of balance, there would be no kyo or jitsu. But if one meridian becomes kyo or jitsu, it causes an imbalance in another. So the key is to assess the meridians in relation to each other to find the 'match', that when treated, will balance out.

Shiatsu can be practised at home, on oneself, on family and friends. But a professional shiatsu involves the practitioner having both a good grasp of treatment and diagnosis. Diagnosis, in shiatsu and Oriental medicine, is quite different to the western medical approach. Shiatsu takes a very individualized approach - it doesn't look for a disease with a set criteria of symptoms. Rather, it assesses the energetic and physical balance - or imbalance- within the conditions the individual is presenting, and treats accordingly. So even though two people may come in with headaches, the treatment, the choice of meridians, the combination of stretches, would be different.

Shiatsu is very effective at preventing disease by addressing imbalances before they manifest as illnesses. Another difference between it and a western approach, is the integration of the responsibility of the individual to maintain their own health, through choices that support their own health. These choices may be dietary, lifestyle, or more fundamental choices about the direction their life is taking.

What is Hospice Care?

by Gay Redmile

The contemporary hospice offers a comprehensive program of care to patients and families facing a life threatening illness. Hospice is primarily a concept of care, not a specific place of care. Hospice emphasizes palliative care, rather than curing; quality rather than quantity of life. Hospice care is provided to patients who have a limited life expectancy. Although most hospice patients are cancer patients, hospices accept anyone regardless of age or type of illness. These patients have also made a decision to spend their last months at home or in a homelike setting.

Hospice care is a choice that is made to enhance life for a dying person. In hospices multi-disciplinary teams strive to offer freedom from pain, dignity, peace and calm at the end of life. Hospice affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. A person with a terminal disease may choose to die at home with the support of family, friends, and caring professionals. Hospice care emphasizes comfort measures and counseling to provide social, spiritual and physical support to the dying patient and his or her family. All hospice care is under professional medical supervision. Over 90% of hospice care is provided in the patient's home.

The physical pain arising from a terminal illness may be debilitating, frightening and dehumanizing. Hospice providers have the skills and resources to allow the person to live as pain-free, as comfortable, and as full a life as possible. In addition to providing for the physical comfort of the dying person, hospice provides social and spiritual support for the patient and his or her family. This support takes the form of time-off for the primary caregiver, personal care, nutritional counseling, pastoral counseling, grief counseling, and help with legal and funeral arrangements. Other issues that need to be considered are power of attorney arrangements, and the right to die, including voluntary euthanasia.

If you are the carer you will need to ensure that you work and communicate effectively with the patient; support the patient’s spiritual interests; assist with finalising the patient’s unfinished affairs; work alongside health professionals; work closely with family and friends and most important - to consider your own needs and feelings. You will need to support the patient's efforts to deal with the reality of the prognosis emotionally, including attempts by the patient to protect loved ones from what is really happening.

When considering hospice care remember that the nature of dying is unique that the goal of a hospice team is to be sensitive and responsive to the special requirements of each individual and family.

Massage - How To Live Longer And Enjoy Life's Pleasures With The Benefits Of Massage Therapy

by Peter Cutland

In Sydney Australia, new massage techniques combined with technology are benefiting Peter Cutland's Wellness Support clients. A longer, more pleasurable life are the main benefits!

Massage is simple, non-intrusive therapy which restores, rehabilitates and revitalises your body and mind. Anyone of any age for almost any condition can use and benefit from massage.

Massage therapy eases the pain and discomfort of injuries, strains, accidents and illness to allow the body's natural healing processes to work most effectively.

It enhances your vitality and sense of well-being.

There are different forms of massage therapy, each requiring a very sound knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.

Therapeutic Massage is defined as the mobilisation of soft tissue to restore balance to the body. It can be stimulating or soothing, depending on the type of techniques applied. Done by a qualified practitioner, it is a relaxing, safe and effective way to restore balance and harmony to the mind and body.

Remedial Massage is the use of massage and diagnostic techniques to treat a wide variety of conditions. Remedial massage is beneficial to the nervous, circulatory and muscular systems of the body, giving relief to chronic pain, musculo-skeletal problems, general relaxation and treatment of injuries.

Aromatherapy Massage is the treatment by the application of Essential Oils to enhance the positive effects achieved by its own specialised form of massage. This method of amalgamation of movements developed in China, India, Persia and France. The Oils are the concentrated 'essences' of plants and act to mediate all the activities of plant life and also work spectacularly for us.

Chinese " Acu-pressure Massage" is the manual therapy aspect of Chinese medicine. It works with the power and sensitivity of human touch to stimulate specific potent and healing areas of the body via energy meridian. - Acu-point-system. It can be effectively applied to revitalise the body's own recuperative power to most functional or structural disorders.

How does massage work?

Massage therapy assists in restoring the normal functioning of your muscle, nerve, circulatory, skin, connective tissue, digestive, and lymphatic systems, enabling your body and mind to heal itself.

Massage by a skilled therapist works because it:

1. Releases muscular spasm and tension
2. Stimulates local blood supply
3. Increases nutrient supply to your body tissues
4. Reduces fluid retention and swelling
5. Helps elimination of bodily toxic waste
6. Enhances the efficient functioning of your skin
7. Re-organises the connective tissue system.
8. Increases flexibility
9. Increases mobility
10.Improves sense of well-being

How will you benefit from massage?

The benefits of massage are universal. You may experience:

· Reduced stress and tension
· Improved circulation
· Less aches and pains
· Greater muscle relaxation
· Reduced risk of injury
· Improved muscular performance
· Increased freedom of movement and co-ordination
· A healthier body and mind

How Can I Make The Best Use of Massage In Sydney Australia?

You may use massage to help in the healing and managing of:

· Stress and stress related illness
· Back pain
· Headaches
· Getting fit and healthy
· Sports injuries
· Sinus
· Insomnia
· Emotional trauma
· Over-use injuries

and much, much more.

Gentle massage affects the nervous system through nerve endings in the skin, stimulating the release of endorphins, the body's natural 'feel good' chemicals, to help induce relaxation and a sense of well-being, to relieve pain and reduce levels of stress chemicals such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It helps reverse the damaging effects of stress by slowing heart rate, respiration and metabolism and lowering raised blood pressure.

Stronger massage stimulates blood circulation to improve the supply of oxygen and nutrients to body tissues and helps the lymphatic system to flush away waste products. It eases tense and knotted muscles and stiff joints, improving mobility and flexibility.

Regular massage reduces the residual tension you carry about with you.

This frees you from increasing stiffness and limitation so that you are better able to cope with physical and emotional demands. You can work with your massage therapist to either overcome or prevent injury and illness. Sydney clients may contact Peter on 02 9686 4884 or email him at info@wellnesssupport.com.au.
